The Legends of Africa Lodges

GIRAFFE SPRINGS
HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

As the flaming red sun dips below the horizon, casting brilliant hues of warm and pastel colours across the clear sky, weary animals take the last sips from Hwange's life sustaining water holes, before making off into the thick bush for the night. The sky turns from orange to purple and then dark sets in - the only image of the silent elephant's movement is his black reflection on the glimmering starlit surface of the waterhole. The crisp air makes you shiver and the day's game parade draws to an end. Back in camp, guests are seated around the long dining table and stories of Hwange's magnificent array of wildlife are recounted.

Later as you lie in the classic splendour of your tent, your reminiscing mind races with excitement - and your heart pounds as you listen to the sounds of the African night.

luxury tented accommodation

Giraffe Springs, one of the Legends of Africa luxury safari lodges and bush camps, is set on a private concession within Zimbabwe's oldest National Park - Hwange. Her ten luxury tents have a distinctly East African feel with their angled sides and hexagonal floor plan, along with interiors decorated in rich spicy colours and finely textured fabrics. Dark wood, burnt ochres and strong maroons characterise the classic tents which all have en suite facilities, a private balcony and views of the water hole situated in front of the camp. The main building, a large open sided thatched structure, houses the dining room, sitting area and an elevated viewing platform set amongst the branches of two teak trees. A private plunge pool is situated adjacent to the main building. The meals echo the delights of the East and 'professional' guides accompany guests on game walks and drives in the camp's private concession, an area well known for its elephant, giraffe, lion and diverse birdlife.
