The Ruckomechi Canoe Trail is possibly the finest way of experiencing the Zambezi River. The Safari commences at Ruckomechi Camp on the Western boundary of Mana Pools National Park and stretches across 80 km of fascinating scenery to Chikwenya on the Eastern boundary.
You will experience the splendour of this world Heritage site by canoe, landrover and on foot. It is the combination of activities that makes the Ruckomechi Canoe Trail a favorite amongst discerning safari Clientele.
You will be guided by the best professionals in the land, sleep in spacious walk-in tents, and enjoy freshly cooked cuisine. A back up crew will move the camp to its next location everyday whilst you are on safari. There will be a warm shower, portable lavatory facilities and naturally, ice and lemon for your evening gin and tonic.
DAY 1:
Guests are introduced to their guide and commence a detailed safety briefing. Thereafter it is into the canoes for a leisurely canoe to Vundu Camp.
DAY 2:
An early morning wake-up call with coffee and biscuits followed by a game walk in Man Pools is quite likely. You may return to a scrumptious English Breakfast before canoeing to Chessa Camp for your night stop.
DAY 3:
Today involves a full day of canoeing through some of the most spectacular and richly populated wildlife country on the continent. You will arrive at Acacia Camp to a welcome gin and tonic and, remarkably, more hot snacks.
DAY 4:
After breakfast it's into the safari vehicle for a leisurely drive back through Mana Pools National Park, stopping at points of interest for short game walks through this game rich section of the park. The afternoon is spent exploring the Ruckomechi concession. Guests overnight at Little Ruckomechi.
DAY 5:
Guests are transferred
back to Kariba after breakfast for their onward arrangements.
