The Legends of Africa Lodges

Ruckomechi Camp
Mana Pools National Park

Since the dawn of time, the wildlife of the Zambezi Valley has used the lush expanse of the Mana Pools flood plain as a thoroughfare between the escarpment and the Zambezi River. Huge herds of elephant and antelope, pursued by the greatest predators, roam unhindered through this wild and ancient neighbourhood. This is where you will find Ruckomechi, resting in a forest of acacia and mahogany trees on the shores of the Zambezi.

Ruckomechi looks out across the river to the massive Zambian escarpment rising 2000 feet in pastel hues of blue and grey, behind the camp is a wide flood plain teaming with game. It is this unique blend of river and mountain, forest and flood plain covered with plant and animal life, that sets Ruckomechi apart, giving it an aura that will take you back to a time of utter peace and tranquillity.

Ruckomechi Camp, four time winner of Zimbabwe's "Best Safari Camp" award, is situated on the western side of Mana Pools National Park (a world heritage site) over looking the Zambezi River. The camp is shaded by a massive grove of acacia trees and has no fence allowing game to wander freely through it. Ruckomechi is staffed by five of Zimbabwe's top licensed guides, who ensure the camp's twenty guests receive personalised service and the richest safari experience possible during their stay. The camp is well known for its outstanding variety of game, and its unique bath with a view.
