Canoe through the lake's petrified forests, take a wilderness walk along the shores and into Matusadona. Spend time with the endangered black rhino, or stalk it in the wild with an expert guide.
Spend an afternoon angling for the ferocious tiger fish. If you prefer life in the slow lane, we suggest you spend a relaxing day at the lodge before taking an evening cruise in the golden light of the sunset.
Kipling's of Kariba, one of The Legends of Africa's luxury safari lodges caters for twenty guests in supreme comfort. Each of the ten thatched chalets has its own view of the lake, Ume River and Matusadona Mountains.
The spacious chalets have en suite facilities and are tastefully decorated in vibrant colours complimented by fine wooden furniture.
The main lodge houses the bar and dining areas and has an upstairs sitting and recreation area, from which the views are breathtaking.
Game walks are carried out in the Matusadona National Park which is home to the "big five", including some thirty black rhino, and the lodge's adopted young rhino - "Kipling".
Kiplings' four professional guides accompany guests on the six safari activities available. All safari activities, meals, drinks and laundry are included in the rates.
LOCATION:
Mouth of the Ume River at Lake Kariba. Guests are met at Kariba Airport and transferred by air to the lodge (20 mins).
ACCOMMODATION:
Ten thatched chalets each with twin beds (five have the option of a double bed), and en suite facilities. Honeymoon suite with large bath and bar fridge.
FACILITIES:
The main lodge houses the dining room, bar, splash pool, reception and decked sitting area.
ACTIVITIES:
Game walks, drives and canoe trips. Excellent fishing. Pontoon cruises and visits to the nearby crocodile farm, and African Village.
CHARACTERISTIC SPECIES:
Big five - black rhino, elephant,
lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, and abundant bird life, good fishing for
tiger fish and bream species.
